Hello HP,
I've been using headphones on my laptop since I bought it 9 months ago, and was always quite happy with the sound quality. But today I noticed that the sound quality through the 3.5mm jack is just awfull. The bass is completely gone and the places where bass should be present in the sound, the whole volume just fades away for a brief moment.
The problem is not present when I listen to music on my phone.
Is there any way to fix this problem? Because listening to this sound quality is just unbearable and substandard for the price I paid.
Kind regards,
Lex

Welcome to HP Forums,
This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂
As I understand, you're in need of support,
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
What is the product number of your device? Use this link to find it: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824
(Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).
When was the last time it worked fine?
Were there any hardware/software changes made?
Have you tried any troubleshooting steps?
Do you have other headphones you could try checking the sound quality with?
Here are a few steps I would suggest you for this issue:
Right-Click on start button> click device manager> expand sound video and game controllers>then select the sound drivers and right-click on it and uninstall the audio drivers.
Please check the box that says delete the software for this device.
- Then restart the computer and check again.
- You should have no sound now.
- Then visit this link: http://hp.com/drivers and update the bios, chipset, and audio drivers.
- If this does not work, then uninstall the audio drivers again and check the box that says delete the software from this device from device manager. Then restart the computer.
- Install audio drivers from HP Recovery Manager from this link: http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04762483
Update BIOS: Follow steps from the link to update the BIOS Click here
Let me know how this goes,
Cheers!

Hi,
Thanks for your reply!
I'm using the HP Pavilion 14-bf180nd and the problem occurred a week ago.
I tried your suggestion and deleting the drivers and updating bios and audio drivers worked for the problem with the jack-audio.
The thing is that since this fix, my B&O drivers disappeared from my laptop and now the quality of my speaker-audio dropped dramatically. I wasn't able to re-install these drivers throug the HP Support Assistance. Is there any way to download this software package?
Kind regards,
Lex
