Hello, for some days now, I have problems with the sound quality of my HP laptop 17-by2xxx
(product number8XB92EA # ABD), recently upgraded Windows 10 home to professional).
Audio Output sounds tinny and has parts like those known from shortwave (I don't know how to describe it: modulation effects?).
I have the same problems with the headphones and in addition a higher frequency beep.
What I tried to solve the problem:
update drivers (realtek): no change
connect to an external Audio interface (yamaha ur44) via usb / ur44 Driver: No bad sound here ..
I tried different Audio Formats (mp3, wav, ..) and Sources (YouTube, other online, local files): no change
I can not narrow the beginning of the problems to one event (installation, update, ...)
Best regards from Berlin / Germany. Stay healthy.

I seems that I cant edit my original post, but I would like to add:
I don't know if this is important here, but I need for my work in the home office (my immune system is weak, so I've been in covid-19 quarantine for weeks) for e.g. Skype and Microsoft Teams urgently need good sound quality

Welcome to HP support community.
Update the Bios, chipset and audio card driver using HP Support Assistant.
Download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: Click here
HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook
-
Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
-
Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
-
Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
-
Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
-
Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.
Also ensure Windows is up to date.
Select the Start button, and then go to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available
Let me know how it goes.
To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.
Cheers.
