I have had this HP OMEN for about two weeks now and it has not been showing any issues at all, but recently, when I try and playback music or a youtube video, the sound begins to fade away and then is really quiet. I have tried already to right click the audio icon in the corner to go to properties and change the dropdown to the highest quality, I have also tried already to update the drivers to the newest version but nothing seems to be working. Please, can somebody find a resolve to this issue?

 

P.S. I have tested if the issue stands by going onto groove music, and playing a song: it begins and sounds fine, but in about 3 seconds it begins to fade and sound incredibly quiet.

I read about your notebook audio issue and wanted to stop in to share my suggestions with you 🙂

 

Going through your post, I understand that you are having fading audio issues on your HP Omen notebook. Greatly appreciate all your efforts in troubleshooting! 

 

Let's try the steps below which will definitely help you fix the issue:

 

Solution 1:

  • Right-click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select 'Playback Devices'.
  • Left click the default device once to highlight it ( it's usually 'speakers & headphones' ) then click the Properties button.
  • Click the Enhancements tab and put a tick in the box next to 'Loudness Equalization'.
  • Click Apply to save the change and then click OK in all remaining windows and see if this has helped at all.

 

Solution 2:

  • Right-click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select 'Playback Devices'.
  • Select the Communications tab up the top.
  • By default ‘when windows detects communications activity’ is set to ‘Reduce the volume of other sounds by 80%’.
  • Change this to ‘Do nothing’.
  • Press OK.

Yep, it was the second solution that fixed.

 

I had no idea that was a feature in Windows 10.
