Hi community,
I have the following issue with my PC emitting annoying Bips.
My PC is a HP Envy x360 2-in-1 laptop 13-bf0000, just 1 year old.
It is connected to a screen through a Dell docking station that works fine with it.
It emits Bip sounds which are annoying during the night.
The bips seem to occur when the PC is in sleep mode - I never noticed it while using my PC. Actually, I notice it when going to bed at night (my PC is in my bedroom).
It is some kind of 2-3 short bips.
The bip turns off when i switch the sound of my PC off.
I have not managed to find anywhere the cause.
Apart from that, my PC works perfectly, it is almost brand new and this has started a few months ago.
I have tried to launch diagnoses but it seems that everything is ok.
Can you please help me finding and cancelling these annoying bips ?
Many thanks,
Ben

Hi @Ben123454321234,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The issue of your HP Envy x360 emitting beeping sounds, especially when it’s in sleep mode, can be quite annoying. Here are some steps you can take to diagnose and hopefully resolve the problem:
1. Check for Hardware Issues
- BIOS Beeps: Some laptops emit beeps as a signal for hardware issues. Since your laptop is relatively new and this issue has arisen only recently, it might be less likely to be a hardware failure. However, you can check the BIOS settings or consult the HP support website to see if there are any beep codes associated with hardware diagnostics.
2. Update or Roll Back Drivers
Audio Drivers: Make sure your audio drivers are up to date. Sometimes, outdated or buggy drivers can cause unusual audio behavior.
- Go to Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers > Right-click your audio device > Update driver.
- You can also visit HP’s official website to download the latest drivers for your specific model.
Docking Station Drivers: If the beeps are related to the docking station, check if there are any driver updates available for it.
3. Check Power Settings
Power Management Settings:
- Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
- Select Change plan settings next to your selected plan.
- Click Change advanced power settings.
- Look for any settings related to sleep or hibernation that might be causing the laptop to emit beeps.
Disable Wake Timers:
- In the same Power Options window, go to Sleep > Allow wake timers and set it to Disable.
4. Inspect Event Logs
- Event Viewer: Sometimes the system logs might give you a clue about what's causing the beeps.
- Open Event Viewer (search for it in the Start menu).
- Look under Windows Logs > System or Application for any errors or warnings that might correspond with the timing of the beeps.
5. Check BIOS/UEFI Settings
- Enter BIOS/UEFI:
- Restart your laptop and press the appropriate key to enter BIOS/UEFI (usually F10, F2, ESC, or DEL).
- Look through the settings to see if there is anything related to sleep mode or hardware diagnostics that might be causing the beeps.
6. Disable System Sounds
- Since you mentioned the beeps stop when you turn off the sound:
- Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound.
- Click on the Sounds tab.
- In the Program Events box, look for “System Sounds” or similar and set it to “None” to mute them.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
