I am using a Bluetooth headset (Jabra 7 Pro) for online meetings in Teams, Google Meet, Zoom, etc. Recently, I noticed the volume of sound in the headset dropped very low during my meetings - despite the volume 'slider' sitting at 100%. No matter who is speaking on the other side, I oftenm have problems hearing them.

As soon as I leave an online meeting, the volume level goes back to 'normal' - i.e. I can listen to the music or watch videos with very loud sound. Also, when connected to another laptop or an Android phone, my BT headset works fine on the same communication platforms. It is not a BT headset issue.

Scouting the Internet for a solution, I came across several mentions of a Windows feature that detects 'communications activity' and reduces the volume of 'other sounds'. People suggested that blocking this feature might resolve the low volume issue.

Unfortunately, the 'Do nothing' setting does not help with my issue - the volume remains faint when using the BT headset on communication platforms.

Is there another HP software setting 11 that may be causing this? Becaue the same issue pops up during Goodle Meet and Zoom calls, it does not appear to be an issue with Teams.

UPDATE: ISSUE SOLVED

I went to Device Manager and uninstalled every instance of the BT headset 'device' (three or four of them, in separate 'branches' of devices). I then restarted Windows, paired the BT headset again and... bingo! Issue solved! 🙂

No more faint sound in Teams meetings; the Windows volume slider does not jum on its own. Happy camper!
