HP ZBook Studio 16 inch G10 Mobile Workstation PC (7L007AV)

I have this issue that is driving me crazy. I reboot my laptop and all is good, Bluetooth devices all connected and sound is working fine. After a while or when I return to my laptop the next day, the Bluetooth devices are all still connected but I don't have any sound from my speakers or headset. If I reset my laptop all is fine again for a while.

I've updated the bios and rolled back the bios, no difference.

I've updated my Bluetooth driver to a compatible driver provided by HP, still the same issue.

Current bios version V99 01.04.00

Current Intel Bluetooth driver 20.30.03.0

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Maybe Fix Bluetooth problems in Windows from Microsoft will help.

Hey Lachs. I've tried them all but still no joy unfortunately.

When I restart the laptop everything is fine, then after a couple of hours it starts to crackle, then gradually gets worse and worse until it stops all together. The only way I know to restore the sound is to restart the laptop.

It feels to me like it could well be a hardware issue rather than software/firmware due to how it works, then gradually fails and stops. I'm trying to pursue with HP support but they aren't contactable in the UK until tomorrow, I can only get the US support and they are unable to progress to hardware repairs.

A hardware problem could be possible. Until a possible repair, does it not work to switch Bluetooth off and on again instead of restarting the system, which is considerably more time-consuming?

Hi Lachs, turning the Bluetooth off and back on did solve the issue. I don't know why I never tried that before 🙄. I just need to try an find the permanent fix now. I did a windows repair last night and that installed new drivers etc but same issue this morning. But then Bluetooth off and back on and it started working again.

The power management could also be responsible. Unchecking the Bluetooth adapter in the device manager would be worth a test.

'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' was checked so I've unchecked it and will let you know. Thanks for your pointers and support with this issue, much appreciated!!

I have been back in touch with HP and they have now raised a repair ticket for the Bluetooth/LAN module. I have a feeling the module is integrated into the motherboard on this laptop so could be a new motherboard job.

I'll let you know over the coming days if the power management point fixes the situation or ultimately if not, its looking like new hardware.

Thanks

Stuart
