Hello,

My laptop's built-in microphone is not working.

I ran 'fix audio issues' through 'HP support assistant'. It says that 'the microphone or headset is unplugged'.

I checked 'device manager'. It seems that the microphone driver has spontaneously disappeared.

Kindly help. Thanks in advance.

Hello @skagrawal4k

Sorry to hear that you are having problems ... and I would like to help you.

Can you say at what earlier time (date) the microphone was still working?

HP Recommended

I can't say for sure. It was working fine a couple of days back. But It was not working  4-5 days prior to that and was working before that.

The problem is on and off. Looking at the 'device manager', it seems that the microphone driver comes and goes spontaneously. Currently, the driver is not listed in device manager. I have no clue why. This on and off problem is going on since past 15 days or so.

Hello @skagrawal4k

In most cases, the simplest solution:

=> Use Windows Restore to return to the restore point before the error occurred.

https://www.windowscentral.com/how-use-system-restore-windows-11

See section < How to undo changes using System Restore on Windows 11 >

Please report your results

System restore was not enabled on my PC. I don't have any prior restore point. Is there any other solution? May be i could manually download a driver for the built-in mic.
