Hey, i know this post is old but i just acquire a laptop, a refurbished HP PAvilion 15 ak011na and I have same issues, buzzing coming from the speakers.

I did various tests and i find out the following:

The sound is the same one as the power supply does;

The noise disappears as soon as I open any game , open prime, in other words when the laptop starts to draw more power;

The noise cannot be found under Linux;

I tested the charger and with another charger it does the same noise;

Edit: In safe mode the sound is not present.

I belive that the sound comes from a issue with some drivers, but I have no idea which one, i tried the Wifi and the Sound card drivers with no luck; sience the sound fade off when the cpu starts to draw power may be from any driver related to the acpi or to the cpu drivers. Could I get some opinions please ?

Edit: curently I run Windows 10 Home update to the latest version with all drivers from HP website, some of the drivers updated by themself through Windows Update but I do not know which ones and I cannot remember if the sound was there when I clean installed.

2nd Edit: I started the laptop in safe mode and there the sound is coming up.  Now I belive the issue is related to a driver...

Edit 00:08 GMT:  So after a bit of reinstalling of drivers regarding the chipset and cpu chip as well as after some research over the internet i found out this is coil whine and everytime i install intels hd 530 graphic driver the sound appear again. If i leave the Microsoft BAsic Adapter driver there is no coil whine. So, the problem is still there and so far I did not find a fix. At least now i know whats causing it...

Hi! @Valeriup, Welcome to HP forums.

I understand you have audio issues with your PC.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any software or hardware changes on your PC?

As you mentioned when you play audio on your PC you hear a buzzing noise from the speakers.

Please provide the product number of your PC to assist you better.

Please try the steps recommended below.

Go to Windows Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers section.
In the list of audio device drivers, look for Realtek or IDT High-Definition Audio. This is the device driver for BeatsAudio (a little bit sneaky, wouldn’t you say?).
Right-click and select Disable. The downward arrow displays on this driver, indicating it is disabled. (NOTE: At this point, you won’t be able to play any music files.)
Right-click and select Update Driver Software.
Select Browse my computer for driver software.
Select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
You should see a window that says Select the device driver you want to install for this hardware. NOTE: If you see a window that says something like This is the best driver for this device, exit the window and repeat steps 4, 5, and 6.
In the Model box, highlight High Definition Audio Device (this is the substitute audio device driver) and click Next.
At the Update Driver Warning window, click Yes. You should see a confirmation window with High Definition Audio Device displayed. Click Close.
In the list of audio device drivers in the Sound, video and game controllers section, you’ll notice that the High Definition Audio Device now displays instead of Realtek or IDT High-Definition Audio.
At the prompt to reboot, click Yes.

If the issue still persists try the steps recommended below.

background intelligent transfer service (BITS) transfers files (downloads or uploads) between a client and server and provides progress information related to the transfers. If the BITS service is turned off, windows update may have problems delivering files to your computer.

Start the BITS service click start, and then click run.

Type services.msc in the open box and then click ok.

Right-click background intelligent transfer service, and then click properties.

On the general tab in the startup type box, click Automatic, and then click apply.

In the service status section of the properties dialog box, verify that the BITS service is started. if it is not started, click start.

Click apply, and then click ok.

Restart the computer and try to reinstall KB982381

Also, uninstall the audio drivers from device manager and install the latest audio driver on your PC using HP support assistant.

Refer this article to know more information about using HP support assistant.

If the issue still persists uninstall the audio driver from device manager and install the drivers using HP recovery manager.

Refer this article to know how to restore drivers using HP recovery manager.

If the issue still persists try running a system diagnostics test from your PC and check if the hardware components on your PC are functioning correctly.

I did what you told me with the driver, uninstall, clean then install back, but even with the driver uninstalled the sound persisted. I reinstall all drivers on the laptop and the progress was the same.

One thing I noticed is that in safe mode the sound is not present, no buzzing.

After I seen that none of the fixes worked, I reinstalled windows and as soon as the copying and updating files part was done, system restart and booting to continue with the installation the sound appear again. So clean windows did not help neather.

Anyway, sience the sound is not present in Safe Mode nor under Linux I belive it is a software issue with windows 10 and not a harware issue...

I read one some forums that this may be caused by the coil whine but it is weird coming out from the speakers, even if I plug any headset/headphones the sound is still coming through the speakers but the sound is clear and no buzzzing is appearing into the headset....

I disabled the playback devices and the buzzing persists.

Yes, I have installed Microsoft's Retail Operating System and the original recovery partition is long gone...

@Valeriup, Thanks for your quick response and time.

I appriciate your efforts for writing back to us.

As you mentioned you have installed the retail Microsoft operating system.

I think it could be a problem with the operating system you have installed.

I would suggest you install the HP shipped operating system and check if the issue persists.
