Hey everyone,
I've been facing this problem for a while now. I'm a musician and I record my own tunes which this Laptop. Everything goes fine when the laptop isn't charging. It doesn't matter how many tracks or plug-ins I have, recordings and playbacks work wonderfully, with a CPU usage of less than 20% in most cases. But everything goes south when this piece of crap is charging. I already created a different power saving profile, where I set everything to work on Max Performance while the cable is connected. (hairy) BUTT, I still have the same problem. Can anyone help me out with this?

Welcome to the HP support community.
I think the adapter that you are using might be faulty due to which the CPU is running at 100 percent, Have you tried checking with a different adapter? Or may be using an outlet that is not providing sufficient power or too much power and that is causing your power supply to have to work much harder and therefore burning out much quicker. Make sure you are not plugging it into any power bars, surge protectors or UPS systems and you could go through the expense to have a qualified electrician come out and test the plugs to make sure they are not spiking or browning out.
Please replace the AC adapter and check again.
Let me know how it goes.
To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.
Cheers.
