HP ENVY x360 13.3 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 13-bf0000 (552D6AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

i just had a doubt, I have type c earphones. So on the right side of my laptop, there are 2 type c ports. Can I use my earphones in them? If so, which one should I use? The one beside USB Type A or the one near the rear end of my laptop? I have been using the one near the rear end to charge the PC.

Hi @vishwaja,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

The HP ENVY x360 13.3 Inch 2-In-1 Laptop PC 13-Bf0000 (552D6AV) has two USB Type-C ports, and it's important to understand their functions to determine the best port for your Type-C earphones.

USB Type-C Ports on Your HP ENVY x360

  1. Port Near the Rear End: This is often a multifunctional port that supports charging, data transfer, and possibly audio output.
  2. Port Beside the USB Type-A: This port might also support charging, data transfer, and audio output.

To determine which port to use for your Type-C earphones, consider the following:

Steps to Test the Ports

  1. Try Both Ports: Plug your Type-C earphones into both ports one at a time and check if audio is working properly in each port.
    • If both ports work, you can choose either one based on convenience.
    • If only one port works, use that port for your earphones.

Recommendations

  • Charging Port (Near Rear End): If you regularly use the port near the rear end for charging your laptop, it's better to use the other Type-C port for your earphones to avoid constantly unplugging and replugging your charger.
  •
  • Type-C Port Beside USB Type-A: If this port supports audio (which you can determine by testing), it might be more convenient to use it for your earphones, leaving the rear port dedicated to charging.

Additional Considerations

  • Driver Support: Ensure your laptop has the latest drivers installed for audio and USB Type-C functionality. Sometimes, updating drivers can resolve compatibility issues.
  •
  • Audio Settings: After plugging in your earphones, check the audio settings on your laptop to ensure the correct output device is selected:
    1. Right-click the speaker icon in the system tray and select Open Sound settings.
    2. Under Output, select your Type-C earphones as the output device.

Conclusion

Both Type-C ports on your HP ENVY x360 laptop may support audio output for your earphones. However, to avoid interference with charging, it is recommended to use the Type-C port beside the USB Type-A for your earphones, leaving the rear port for charging. If you encounter any issues, updating drivers and checking audio settings can help resolve them.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
