No matter what I do, I cannot be heard on Zoom. I have checked the systems, updated all drivers, firmware and BIOS. Checked the audio sttings on Zoom. Privacy settings on Windows for the microphone are fine. On Windows, the system microphone is enabled. BUT, I see where it says 'Real Tech Audio is Unplugged and Reak Tek Audio is Disabled.' Any suggestions>

Hi @WakandaBabe,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP notebook’s microphone issue is deeper than Zoom settings, especially since Windows shows “Realtek Audio is Unplugged” and “Disabled.” That usually means the audio driver isn’t detecting the internal mic hardware correctly. Here’s what you can try:

1. Check Device Manager

  • Press Win + X → Device Manager → Sound, video and game controllers.
  • Look for Realtek Audio or Conexant/Intel Smart Sound
    • If it’s disabled, right-click → Enable device.
    • If it’s missing or shows a yellow warning, reinstall the driver.

2. Reinstall Audio Drivers

  • Go to HP Support for your notebook model and download the latest Realtek High Definition Audio driver.
  • Uninstall the current driver first:
    • Device Manager → Right-click Realtek → Uninstall device (check “Delete driver software”).
  • Restart and install the fresh driver from HP.

3. Check the Microphone in Sound Settings

  • Settings → System → Sound → Input.
  • Ensure the correct mic is selected (Internal Microphone Array).
  • Test the mic using the Test your microphone option.

4. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

  • Restart → Press Esc, then F2 for HP UEFI Diagnostics.
  • Run Component Tests → Audio to confirm the mic hardware is functional.

5. Update Windows Audio Components

  • In Device Manager, expand System Devices and update:
    • Intel Smart Sound Technology (Audio Controller) (if present).
  • Sometimes this controller manages the mic on newer HP notebooks.

6. Zoom Specific Check

  • In Zoom → Settings → Audio
    • Ensure “Allow Zoom to access microphone” is enabled in Windows Privacy.
    • Disable “Automatically adjust microphone volume” temporarily and test.

I have already done all these things, though I went down the list to be sure. This is a brand new computer laptop. When I go to HP to install drivers, the verson of Windows 11 goes up to 24H2. Mine is 25H2 so where are the drivers? If I let Windows detect drivers, it tells me the most recent drivers are already installed. Extremely frustrating. MY last resort is to do a factory reset.

Thanks but I have solved the issue by doing a reset. Some glitch, no doubt. But the problem has been fixed.
