Spectre
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I am unable to record audio out from a Mixer using RCA to 3.5mm Stereo cable or  using a Dual 6.35mm 1/4" TS Mono Stereo Y-Cable Splitter to 3.5mm Stereo cable. I am using Audacity as well as the Windows Voice recorder app. I am however able to record my voice using a simple Headset with mic. Any suggestions on what could be missing while connecting the Mixer to the laptop?

All Spectre machines do not have line in and some won't accept stand alone microphone. Headsets will work with Headhones/Micropone combo jack.

You need an USB audio adapter with line in (also called sound card) to be able to connect to external  devices for recording audio properly.

Regards.

Thanks BH, this resolved my problem. I however bought BEHRINGER 2 Stereo 1/4" Line In to USB Interface Cable Black, (LINE2USB) cable from Amazon. Thought bit expensive but audio recording quality is really good, no humming noise etc.
