HP Probook 440 G4
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have updated the Conexant Audio Driver as shown in HP Support Assistant, its SP81155 version 11.47.230.69Qp5.

But after installing it, there is no sound coming from Speakers and Headphone both.

Device Manager showing device Ok.

Please help.

Go to your Support page and Download & Save the Conexant Audio driver. Next go to Control Panel, Programs & Features and Uninstall Conexant Software. Restart your laptop. Once it boots up find the downloaded file, right click and choose Run as administrator.

Then why update is pushed over Hp Support Assistant software.

I can only tell you that sometimes HP SA fails at uninstalling old driver and reinstalling the new one.

Problem still not solved.

Audio device started working, but.... when watching videos on GrooveMusic app of windows, audio through headphone fails when...

1. while playing video, if i switch app by pressing alt+tab , and when i return to video, no audio is there.

2. Many times, if there is a playlist of videos, on playing next video, audio fails.

Then I have to take out the headphone jack, and then speaker makes hsssssssssssssssssssssssss sound for 2-3 seconds.

And audio is played on speaker only.

It is really annoying.

All installation was successful, and nothing failed. Device manager shows no error.

Audio is now failed after installing update.

The error is: A conexant audio device could not be found. The application will now exit.

Also, small cross in red is marked on speaker icon in taskbar. And it does not show any Speaker or recording device.

Try a hard reset.Disconnect all external devices first.

1-remove power cord and battery

2-press power button for 30 seconds

3-reinstall only power cord for first startup.

4-power on

Already done. No help.

Restored windows to earlier state... No help.

Finally had to reset windows. Sound is back. Have not tested headphones yet. Fearful of that.

It took 5 hours to reset. Full day to search and diagnose problem reason.

Will take another full day for installing development environments Visual Studio, SQL Server and other environments.

Very sad. Not at all happy.
