Add me to this list - Envy 13t Windows 10 pro from Costco purchased September 2017. Just about daily I wake up the machine to find the dreaded "red x" and have to restart to fix it. This is unacceptable and the laptop will be going back while I can return it no questions asked if this isn't promptly resolved. Simply unacceptable for a new high end ($1,000) laptop to come with such frustrations. NO, I should not have to start reinstalling operating systems, drivers, BIOS etc. to get my brand new machine to work correctly! Fix this HP (or get Conexant to fix it) before you have a bunch of returns on your hands that you'll have to try to resell as refurbished product.

Coudn't agree more, I returned one laptop because of this and now am about to return this one because HP doesn't have a solution.  I sent one PC in to the service center, they couldn't fix it, then returned the pc figured that it was that laptop's issue, but the same issue.  Having to uninstall and re-install three times a day is a total JOKE!  FIX THIS!

Glad to find this forum that describes the exact problem I am experiencing, but sad to see HP still hasn't provided a fix.  Called HP earlier today (before I found this forum) and how come the HP technician wasn't aware of the problem already and just adviced me to reinstall audio driver? He even said reinstalling the driver should fix the problem but the problem persists after the call.  Shouldn't HP tech support be already aware of this audio issue and that reinstalling driver isn't gonna cut it? I have had this HP Envy x360 laptop since last December, really like everything about it until this problem with losing sound started about 2 weeks ago I believe when my windows performed an update.  I hope there'll be a fix for it soon.

I installed an older version of the Conexant audio driver 9.0.134.1 and the audio works fine now.

Scroll down and look for your computer model:

I went to this screen and I already have the driver listed on that page--still not working...  I've just resigned myself to reinstalling the driver every time I need audio.  Bluetooth Audio seems to work fine, but the speakers are hit and miss...

Hey guys, I'm working with a Probook 640 G3 and am also having the same issue. Also, my audio devices seem to be messing with my video playback on all my browsers for anything using flash, does anyone else have this issue as well? Videos will start fine and then once paused and played will resume in slow motion with no audio. BUT, should I disable and re-enable any of my audio devices it goes back to normal. Am I alone in this one?

I've got the Costco Envy x360 13t as well, and right from the get-go, the Conexant ISST driver has caused me problems. I've gotten the "disappearing" driver issue like the rest of you have, plus random low-volume squeaks from the speaker (when, I suspect, the driver is activated, e.g. right before playing a sound or sound track).

So here's how I worked around it. The driver that's causing the problem (for me) is version 9.0.140.1, contained in the lasted SoftPaq sp80332. Out on Softpedia, I found an old version of this driver, version 9.0.95.0, from Conexant without the B&O or HP branding. I uninstalled 9.0.140.1 (from the "Program and Features" control panel), and manually installed 9.0.95.0. I forget exactly what I did, because the system really wanted me to use 9.0.140.1.

Now that I've got the old driver installed, guess what? No disappearing driver and no low-volume squeaks! I lost the B&O control panel (who cares!), and I had to increase the gain on the microphone to 24dB (in the Sound control panel>Recording Devices>Properties).

That's it. I'm probably losing something (like mic input from both mics in the mic array)..., but no more futzing with the driver. YMMV.

Where were you able to locate the old driver?  If you could post it here that would be helpful.  Beyond frustrated with this issue.  In fact, the sound went out while I was typing this message.  You can't make this up.

Search for "Softpedia Conexant ISST Audio Driver 9.0.95.0".

Excellent!  Thanks for this, just updated my driver, hoping this is the trick!
