Recently I started to have issues with my speakers crackling. The issue occurs when listening to music, gaming or watching videos. Playback/game starts as normal but after some time (I measured anywhere between 5 and 50 minutes, most often between 7 to 10 minutes) speakers start to crackle. I tried to update my drivers according to instructions I found in HP Support Assistant, online at various how-tos and even in other posts, but to no avail. Could you please provide an audio driver for my laptop? The site here that should contain them is empty. Version of my driver is RTKVHD64.sys 6.0.8899.1 for Realtek High Definition Audio.

Hi @Mikey1988
go to the device manager, then click on Sound, video and game controllers, uninstall the Realtek driver, it will ask if you want to remove the software, check the box, accept and then restart the device, then install the next sound driver.

Thank you very much for a swift response and the file. I already managed to find and download it beforehand, but wasn't sure whether it will help or not.
It was kind of a wild ride even with the right file, though. I had to uninstall and reinstall the driver several times, but Windows kept reverting the driver back to the old one. In the end I had to restart my laptop in Safe Mode and install the driver that way (I have seen it was recognized in the Safe Mode by the Device Manager). After a standard restart of the OS it once again forced the old driver back, but this time the Device Manager finally allowed me to roll the driver back to the one provided by you and installed in the Safe Mode. I have been testing it for about an hour and everything seem to be working fine. So, even though it was a driver issue, it seems that the root cause is Windows being a bullying **bleep**. Thanks again for your help.

You´re welcome, that usually happens what you should do is from the device administrator, reverse the driver will ask you to indicate the reason select any and it should be enough so that you do not change it again.
