This question was asked before and is identical to my own problem, but I see no useful reply:

"My laptop has a volume control button on the left hand side of it (mine is on the right side), that keeps getting stuck in either turning the volume up or down and will not stop. Is there a way to disable the side control buttons from working at all so I can use the volume on my device? My computer is no longer under warranty by the manufacturer and I honestly don't use the control anyway so easiest thing is to disable it from working at all."

More frustrating than that is that this button is causing a conflict, which forces the unexpected shutdown of the computer.

I'm particularly annoyed that although I purchased the computer in October of 2019 - which would make my PC still be under manufacturer's warranty - HP's support site reports the warranty period as having started in March of 2019, which not only renders the warranty expired but is clearly inaccurate, since the BIOS date matches the so-called warranty start date of 3/19/19... an obvious impossibility.

Plesae tell me how to disable this poorly-designed, exterior volume control so that I can once again use my now-useless computer, and tell me how to correct the problem of HP's inaccurate reporting of my purchase date so that I can access the warranty service to which I'm entitled.

@cubinche

I reviewed your post and I understand that you want to disable the physical volume buttons on the computer.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I would like to inform you that there is no option to disable the volume buttons on the side of the computer as these are physical keys. I recommend you update the BIOS from the below link and check if it helps.

For the Warranty issue, I recommend you contact support and they will update the warranty of your computer as per the purchase date.

Here is how you can get in touch with support.

1)Click on this link – www.hp.com/contacthp/

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
