Hi @DawnCampbell,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I hear that your HP laptop keeps playing sound from both the laptop and the TV while casting, try these steps:

Change the audio output device:

  • In Windows, select the speaker icon on the taskbar.

  • Choose your TV/HDMI device as the playback output instead of the laptop speakers.

Use the display switch key:

  • On supported HP laptops, an action key can switch the screen image between display devices such as the laptop display and an external monitor/TV. This is useful when connected to an external display.

  • If needed, press the appropriate display switch action key (sometimes with fn) to cycle display modes.

Mute laptop speakers:

  • Use the mute key or volume controls on the keyboard.

  • HP documents note that the mute key mutes or restores speaker sound, and volume keys decrease/increase speaker volume.

If using HDMI:

  • HP documentation shows that HP laptops support connecting a TV through the HDMI port, which carries video/audio to a compatible external device.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
