EliteBook 840 G2
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I currently have BIOS version 01.19 Rev. A (most recent production version) and Windows 10 build 10.0.15063 (most recent production build - not Insider Preview) installed. The issue started after a large Windows Update. Since then, I've tried reinstalling the Realtek Audio drivers ( version 6.0.1.8108 Rev. A) directly from the HP site as well as the one right from Realtek's website (version R2.81). I've since deleted the partitions on my drive (No recovery partition as I'm booting from a M.2 PCIe SSD) and installed a fresh copy of Windows 10 Pro 64 bit directly from Microsoft using their Media Creation Tool. ALL drivers had been downloaded directly from HP website. After using HP Support Assistant to ensure all my drivers have been installed correctly, there is still no audio device that shows up under Sound in Device Manager.

The first thing I did was go to BIOS to ensure that Audio is enabled. It is, as well as Microphone and Internal Speakers (which are greyed out when you have Audio disabled).

As it stands now, I have no audio. Windows sound troubleshooter states there's no audio devices installed. In Device Manager, there are no "unknown devices" missing drivers. It's like the BIOS toggle is not enabling audio. Does anyone have an idea what it may be?

@joesee

The following software may help. Please download and install it to your machine:

Regards.

Thank you for the fast reply, especially on a weekend! I downloaded that Softpaq and tried installing, unfortunately I receive the error: The hardware detected is not supported by this IDT software package. The install will be aborted.

When downloading drivers for the first time located at: https://support.hp.com/ph-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-elitebook-840-g2-notebook-pc/7343202 there was only the Realtek Driver listed.

I should also let you know that in Device Manager, there is no "Sounds" category. I'm not sure what to try next?

I'm very disappointed that after several phone calls to HP, they finally agreed that the system board audio device has failed in service and has created an HP case number and stated that a technican would call me back to schedule a time to come out and repair the system since it's under warranty, but it's been three days now and no one has called. I'm really starting to lose faith in HP's ability to resolve issues in a timely manner.

I'm really not sure what to do next. I have no way of contacting the specific department that I was speaking to earlier.
