Hello Tonyfox87,

Thank you for posting your concern,

If you are experiencing audio issues with the HP EliteBook 850 G8, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

Troubleshooting HP EliteBook 850 G8 Audio Issues

  1. Check Volume Settings:

    • Make sure the volume is not muted. Use the volume keys or slider to adjust the volume to an audible level.
  2. Update Audio Drivers:

    • Go to the HP Support website and look for driver updates specific to the EliteBook 850 G8. Ensure that the audio drivers are up-to-date by downloading and installing the latest version.
  3. Audio Troubleshooter:

    • Use the built-in Windows or HP Support Assistant audio troubleshooter to diagnose and fix common audio problems.
    • For Windows: Go to Settings > System > Sound, and click on Troubleshoot under the output device.
  4. Check Audio Device Settings:

    • Right-click the sound icon in the taskbar, and select Playback devices.
    • Ensure the correct audio device is set as the default one, typically "Speakers/Headphones (Realtek)" or similar.
  5. Physical Connections:

    • Ensure that external speakers or headphones are properly connected.
    • Check for any loose connections or cables.
  6. Restart Your Computer:

    • Sometimes a simple restart can resolve audio issues that were temporary or minor glitches.
  7. Check for System Updates:

    • Ensure that your operating system is fully patched and updated, as some issues might be resolved through system updates.
  8. Inspect Audio Hardware:

    • Ensure that there are no hardware issues with your speakers or audio ports. If available, test with external speakers or headphones.

If these troubleshooting steps don't resolve your audio issues, it can be beneficial to consult with HP customer support for more in-depth assistance or consider professional repair services.
