I have a HP Spectre x360 laptop
I am trying to use a External microphone with it, specifically the soundtech cm-1000 3.5 conference microphone
However, when plugged into the right audio jack, it is not detected and the In built Microphone Intel SST is the only device listed in the sound settings under input, as well as having no Audio output despite it being only a microphone, so it should not be effecting the output at all.
Other audio input devices however do work and are recognised, as when i plugged in my AKG earphones, both Audio Output works and In the Sound Settings a Realtek Microphone device appears and my earphones microphone is set to the input device.
I also know that the soundtech cm-1000 3.5 conference microphone works, as when i plug it into my other laptop (which only has Realtek Microphone as the input) it is immediately recognised. This microphone does not need any extra drivers.

Looks like your machine only has one headphones/microphone combo port. On many machines that port does not support a standalone microphone. Please try that port with headsets
Regards.
