Hi @chicooo ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your external microphone is producing robotic sounds on your HP Laptop running Windows 11, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue. Here are some suggestions:

1. Check Microphone Connection:

  • Ensure that the microphone is properly connected to the laptop. If you are using an audio splitter, make sure all connections are secure.

2. Update Audio Drivers:

  • Outdated or incompatible audio drivers can cause microphone issues. Go to the HP support website, enter your laptop model, and download the latest audio drivers for Windows 11.

3. Windows Update:

  • Ensure that your operating system is up to date with the latest Windows updates, as these updates may include fixes for audio-related issues.

4. Microphone Settings:

  • Right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar and select "Open Sound settings." Check if the correct microphone is selected under the "Choose your input device" dropdown menu.

5. Adjust Microphone Settings:

  • Navigate to "Sound Control Panel" (you can find it by right-clicking the speaker icon and selecting "Open Sound settings" -> "Sound Control Panel" on the right).
  • Under the "Recording" tab, select your microphone and go to "Properties."
  • In the "Levels" tab, make sure the microphone volume is set appropriately.

6. Exclusive Mode:

  • In the "Sound Control Panel," under the "Advanced" tab, uncheck the option that says "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device."

7. Disable Audio Enhancements:

  • In the "Sound Control Panel," under the "Enhancements" tab, disable all enhancements and see if it improve the microphone quality.

8. Check for Interference:

  • Ensure there is no interference from other electronic devices near your laptop that could be affecting the microphone signal.

9. Try Another USB Port:

  • If your external microphone is connected via USB, try using a different USB port on your laptop.

10. Reset Audio Settings:

  • In the "Sound Control Panel," under the "Playback" tab, right-click on your default playback device and select "Properties." Go to the "Advanced" tab and click on "Restore Defaults."

11. Test with Another User Account:

  • Create a new user account on your laptop and test the external microphone with that account. This can help determine if the issue is specific to your user profile.

12. System Restore:

  • If the issue started after a specific update or software installation, you can try using System Restore to revert your system to a previous state.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
