Disaster …. I got the error message “no audio device found”, and the microphone showed the same after I updated windows. I decided to try a factory rest using HP help service, which downloaded onto a usb drive. All was well at this point, I followed the prompts from F11 boot up and away it went. Half way through the reinstall, a pop up informed me that I was on battery power, and the next step required my laptop to be plugged in. I plugged it in, hit the continue button ….. and nothing happened, I reconnected the power cord several times and clicking on the continue didn’t make the pop up disappear, which meant the re-installation wouldn’t continue. Having tried everything, I had no option to turn the computer off. Now it won’t reboot and when trying to recover through F11, it comes up with an error 🤷🤷. I’m now truly stuck and only know it’s an HP envy, i7, 1TB SSD, originally cost around £1,100.
