Hello,

I have exactly the same problem with sp 106144.

Please, is there any solution?

Same issue for Elitebook x360 1030 G3. It's been like this since August.

HP is very quiet, no support or help at all, clearly they don't care ...

For all the poor souls who will fall on this post, desperately looking for an answer to this issue, here it is: you need to reinstall Windows.

I spent one hour with the HP technician yesterday, we tried everything and nothing worked.

Good luck to all of you!

Same problem on Elitebook 840 G3. Tried installing it manually. In my case it is sp109031. But in the end after restarting, I end up with the same message. I even tried by removing the drivers in the Device manager, but once restarting the laptop I end up in the same status quo.

I have no intentions on reinstalling the windows as proposed by the last user, but it is just super frustrating I can't update it.

Hope HP is looking into that and come up with a sollution asap.

Windows Update finally offered the 2004 (April 2020) update which required the updated audio driver as a precondition. Since this feature update is in many ways a new Windows installation, I figured the problem would be solved for good. But after the 2004 update, HP Support Assistant still wants to install the (already installed) new driver, and Windows Update still wants to repeatedly try to install the old July 2018 driver. I'm just ignoring them both at this point, since the 2004 feature update was my original goal.

Same issue here.

the HP support folks should read these Microsoft issues between Windows 10 version 2004 and certain Conexant Audio drivers:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-information/status-windows-10-2004#377msgdesc

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-information/status-windows-10-2004#417msgdesc

these issues for Win10 v2004 remain unresolved until Synaptics issues updated Conexant drivers that work correctly for 2004.

the HP support assistant app is ***bleep*** and does not take into account the Conexant audio driver issues pointed out by Microsoft and Windows Update may issue updated Conexant audio drivers that are compatible with the 2004 version which may not be recognized by the HP support assistant tool.  maybe block/ignore/hide any Conexant driver updates from HP support assistant or even disable or remove the HP support assistant tool entirely - no need to reinstall Windows 10.

Same problem here with sp 106144, failed to install Conexon HD Audio driver.

This prevents my Elitebook x360 from getting Windows 10 ver 2004 and all newer versions.

We need a fix asap !!!

Well for me I still have NO SOUND at all, and that's my bigger issue. it's been 4 f#@$ing months ...

A quick check into the bios showed that this is definitely not a hardware issue, but a very well-known issue from incompatible Conexant drivers.

I wonder what HP/Windows/Conexant people are doing at the moment? Clearly we are the least of their worries ...

ok so... same here.
after new windows installation it started to show the driver is missing and same case like all other friends here, installing and after reboot still offering to update.
we buy a Laptop from a fancy brand as HP and no one even join from the supporters to tell us something about this failure in a super expensive product that we suppose to get support for 3 years.
i think that the reason I didn't had this message before reinstalling windows was cause I had some software to update drivers but I have removed it cause one day it gave me some wrong driver and windows fail to download.
maybe I will try that software again ...
it is better then the official driver updating tool and this is the sad thing 😞
