This Laptop with Bang& Olafsen sound has crackling and poor audio. twice been repaired under warrant from HP, now out of warranty and still have the same fault, many posts on Google and just as many solutions, none work, I now believe that this is an inbuilt fault and HP has no solution.

Hi @LEITHER,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
I understand that you are having issues with the sound.
Have you made any changes to your PC hardware or software (OS).
Crackling and poor audio on your HP ENVY Laptop 13-Ba1000 (1F4E1AV) with Bang & Olufsen sound can be caused by several factors, including outdated drivers, audio settings, or hardware issues. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
1. Update Audio Drivers
Updating your audio drivers can often resolve sound issues:
- Open Device Manager:
- Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
- Right-click on your audio device (e.g., Realtek Audio, Bang & Olufsen) and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
- Restart your laptop after the update.
Alternatively, you can download the latest audio drivers from the HP Support website.
2. Adjust Audio Settings
Incorrect audio settings can cause sound issues:
- Right-click the speaker icon in the system tray and select Sounds.
- Go to the Playback tab, select your audio device, and click Properties.
- In the Advanced tab, try changing the default format to a lower setting (e.g., 24 bit, 44100 Hz).
- Disable audio enhancements:
- Go to the Enhancements tab (if available) and check Disable all enhancements.
- Apply the changes and test the audio.
3. Run the Audio Troubleshooter
Windows has a built-in audio troubleshooter that can help identify and fix common sound problems:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
- Click Additional troubleshooters.
- Select Playing Audio and click Run the troubleshooter.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
4. Check for Windows Updates
Ensure your operating system is up-to-date, as updates can include fixes for audio issues:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Click Check for updates and install any available updates.
- Restart your laptop after the updates.
5. Disable Exclusive Mode
Exclusive mode settings can sometimes cause audio issues:
- Right-click the speaker icon in the system tray and select Sounds.
- Go to the Playback tab, select your audio device, and click Properties.
- In the Advanced tab, uncheck the boxes under Exclusive Mode.
- Apply the changes and test the audio.
Please find the next set of steps in the next post.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi @LEITHER,
Please find the next set of steps below.
6. Check Audio Jack and Ports
If you use external speakers or headphones, check the audio jack and ports for debris or damage.
7. Perform a System Restore
If the issue started recently, you can restore your system to a previous state:
- Type rstrui in the Run dialog (Win + R) and press Enter.
- Follow the prompts to restore your system to a point before the audio issue started.
8. Test with External Speakers or Headphones
Test your laptop with external speakers or headphones to determine if the issue is with the internal speakers:
- If the issue persists with external audio devices, it may be a software issue.
- If the issue does not occur with external devices, the internal speakers might be faulty.
9. Check for Interference
Sometimes, electronic interference can cause crackling sounds. Ensure your laptop is not placed near other electronic devices that may cause interference.
If none of the above solutions work, there might be a hardware issue with your laptop's speakers or audio system. Consider contacting HP Support for further assistance.
For that to happen, we will give you additional instructions/information via Private Message.
Please check your inbox on the forums page for the private message.
Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

Thanks for your advice, the laptop has been returned to HP support twice by my local store, parts were changed and factory reset system, both repairs lasted about a month, now out of warranty, it does clear if I uninstall audio and reboot but this only lasts a short time, however if I use headphones there is never a problem, Googling this fault it seems very common with HP, thanks again, next purchases will not be HP.
