Hi @15ay006tx

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If your HP Notebook 15-ay006tx is showing "Generic audio driver detected" in Windows 10, it usually indicates an issue with the audio driver. Here are HP-specific steps to resolve this:

1. Download the Correct Audio Driver

  • Visit the HP Support page and search for your laptop model (HP Notebook 15-ay006tx).
  • Download the latest Realtek High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver for Windows 10.

2. Uninstall the Generic Audio Driver

  • Open Device Manager (press Windows + X and select it).
  • Expand the Sound, video, and game controllers section.
  • Right-click on the generic audio driver and select Uninstall device.
  • Check the box for Delete the driver software for this device and click Uninstall.

3. Install the HP Audio Driver

  • Run the driver installer you downloaded from the HP Support page.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
  • Restart your laptop after the installation is complete.

4. Run HP Support Assistant

  • Open the HP Support Assistant app on your laptop.
  • Go to Updates and Messages and check for any pending driver updates.
  • Install any recommended updates for audio drivers.

5. Update BIOS

  • Check for a BIOS update on the HP Support page for your laptop model.
  • Follow the instructions to update the BIOS, as it may resolve compatibility issues.

6. Test Audio Output

  • After completing the steps, test the audio by playing a sound or video.
  • If the issue persists, run the Windows Troubleshooter by going to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Playing Audio.

Let me know how these steps work for you or if you need further assistance! 😊
