HP 255 15.6 inch G10 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 11

My internal microphone is not detected at all on my HP 255 G10 (15.6 inch, AMD Ryzen, Windows 11).

SYMPTOMS
- Settings > Sound > Input shows no microphone.
- mmsys.cpl > Recording tab says "No audio devices are installed".
- Device Manager > Audio inputs and outputs only lists "Headphones (High Definition Audio Device)" and "Speakers (High Definition Audio Device)". No microphone or digital mic.
- Before installing drivers, "Other devices" showed "Multimedia Controller" and two "Unknown device" entries with warning icons.

WHAT THE DIAGNOSTICS SHOW
- The AMD Audio CoProcessor PCI device (VEN_1022 / DEV_15E2) is loaded and working.
- The ACP bus enumerator (amdacpbus.inf) loads and creates a child DMIC node.
- The ACP DMIC child node shows Code 28 (drivers not installed), so no microphone endpoint is created.
- A diagnostic scan flagged that the DMIC function driver (intcdmic.inf) is missing from the driver store, even though the HP package installed the bus driver and extension INFs.
- Hardware IDs of the DMIC node: [paste from Device Manager > node > Properties > Details > Hardware Ids]

WHAT I HAVE ALREADY TRIED
- Installed the AMD Chipset driver and Realtek Audio driver from the HP support page for this model, restarting after each. No change.
- Checked that Windows Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder services are running.
- Microphone privacy access is enabled for the system and apps.
- Checked for hidden or ghost audio devices. None found.
- Windows Update > Optional updates (driver updates): [done / nothing found]
- DISM /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth and sfc /scannow: [result]
- Current BIOS version: [from Win+R > msinfo32 > BIOS Version/Date]
- Windows 11 version and build: [from Win+R > winver]
- External USB or Bluetooth mic works: [yes/no]

QUESTIONS
1. Which exact SoftPaq contains the AMD ACP DMIC function driver for the HP 255 G10?
2. Is there a newer BIOS or audio driver for this model that fixes the missing DMIC node?
3. If no software fix exists, could this be a hardware or firmware fault covered by warranty?

Thank you for any help.

Hi Rita, thanks for the reply.

The generic Windows 11 microphone troubleshooting guide doesn't match what I'm seeing, and I've already done those steps (privacy settings, services, Realtek and AMD Chipset drivers from HP, checked for hidden devices). The microphone isn't disabled or muted. The device simply doesn't exist in Windows.

Summary of the problem:
- The AMD Audio CoProcessor (PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_15E2) loads fine and amdacpbus creates the ACP DMIC child node.
- That DMIC node shows Code 28 (drivers not installed), so no microphone endpoint is created.
- Recording tab: "No audio devices are installed".

I found other threads on this board for the same hardware ID where the fix was the AMD graphics driver package, which carries the ACP/DMIC driver: sp152268 (worked in the "ACP DMIC Node" thread) and sp155090 (worked in a later thread where sp152268 didn't). When I run sp152268, the HP Softpaq wrapper fails with "Failed to extract archive" at src\Ver.txt.

Could you please confirm:
1. Which SoftPaq is the correct AMD ACP DMIC driver for my exact HP 255 G10 SKU, sp152268 or sp155090 (or something newer)?
2. Why the sp152268 wrapper fails to extract, and whether there's a corrected or re-released package?
3. If no driver fixes it, whether this should be treated as a hardware fault under warranty.
