My HP ENVY Laptop - 13-ba0506na is not compatible with Windows 11. It installs but I have no sound and it seems to be an issue with the Band & Olufsen audio device and drivers. Despite many attempts over the last 2 years no one at HP or Microsoft has offered any help on this. Had a few ideas from some good individuals on here but none have worked.
Has anyone successfully managed to install Windows 11 on one of these laptops and got the sound working ?
Considering performing a factory reset to see if that helps at all.
Many thanks

Hi @steveschof1970,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the HP ENVY 13-ba0506na, being a model from the earlier part of HP's ENVY series, may not have been officially tested or optimized for Windows 11.
Here are a few steps you can take to try to resolve the sound issue and ensure compatibility:
1. Check for Driver Updates Software and Drivers for HP ENVY Laptop - 13-ba0506na as of now windows 10 drivers are available
- HP Support: Go to HP Support and search for your laptop model to see if there are updated drivers available for Windows 11 in the future.
- Windows Update: Check if there are any optional updates for your device under Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
2. Reinstall Audio Drivers
- Device Manager: Open Device Manager (right-click on Start and select Device Manager), find the audio device under Sound, video and game controllers, right-click it, and select Uninstall device. Restart your laptop, and Windows should reinstall the driver automatically.
- Manufacturer’s Website: Visit the Band & Olufsen website to see if they have Windows 11 drivers for your audio device.
3. Run Windows Troubleshooter
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters, and run the Playing Audio troubleshooter.
4. Check Audio Settings
- Ensure that your audio output device is set correctly. Go to Settings > System > Sound, and make sure the correct output device is selected.
5. Perform a Factory Reset
- If you decide to perform a factory reset, make sure to back up your important data first. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery and select Get started under Reset this PC. Choose Keep my files if you want to retain your personal files.

I hope this helps.

Hi, further to my previous response on Windows 11 not being compatible with my HP laptop. I have just finished recovering my laptop using the USB drive I created before I tried the factory reset that you recommended to try and get Windows 11 working. It seems that even though I created the USB recovery drive under Windows version 20H2 when it recovers Windows it installs Windows version 22H2. When this has completed my sound now doesn't work on Windows 10 anymore. I've tried all the diagnostic tests available, and when I try and update drivers via your own support page for my laptop there are no drivers available for Windows 22H2. I've tried to install the drivers for Windows 20H2 again and I get a dialogue box telling me they are incompatible for my device. So by following your advice to try and get Windows 11 working I now have a laptop that doesn't work under Windows 10 either.
You are probably sensing my frustration at the situation I'm in and I demand that I get support from you to roll back my Windows installation back to version 20H2 so my laptop sound works again.
