HP ENVY Laptop 13-ba0xxx
Microsoft Windows 11

As per the title my HP ENVY Laptop 13-ba0xxx  Lost Sound in Windows 10 after 21H1 Update and also the same in Windows 11.

I have tried everything. All the Disable driver options etc /BIOS update/ Windows Clean Reset.

HP Support Assist says I need Realtek High Def Audio Driver Ver 6.0.9061.1 which is in file sp112101. However when trying to load sp112101 it returns an error message "OS is not supported".

Pretty rubbish to have a laptop that loses sound at just 6 months old and no solution from HP.

Don't worry! We are in your corner.

Many audio problems after upgrading to Windows 10 21H1 can be fixed by a few basic steps. We recommended you try these solutions first.

Sometimes a reboot is needed, or the driver needs to be reinstalled.

  1. Restart your computer before doing anything else.

  2. The next step is to reinstall the audio driver. Go to the Software and Driver Download page, find your product, and go to its download page.

  3. Download and reinstall the audio driver.

  4. Restart your computer, then run HP Audio Check and follow the instructions.

    Launch Audio Check

If you still have problems, HP PCs - No Sound from Speakers (Windows 10, 😎 contains advanced steps.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hello. Thanks for your reply. However I've already done everything you have suggested (lots of times)

As per my posting - HP Support Assist says I need Realtek High Def Audio Driver Ver 6.0.9061.1 which is in file sp112101. However when trying to load sp112101 it returns an error message "OS is not supported".

So when will you be able to supply an updated Realtek High Def Audio Driver?

I cannot be the only person who has this problem.

Thank you for posting back.

Have you tried audio driver rollback?
To get the answer to this question, the Microsoft handle and rolls out drivers and software via Windows update.

The last thing I can suggest try and restore the OS back to the factory default, which will isolate whether it’s a software or hardware issue. The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thanks again for your reply. For some reason though when I click the link to download the recovery tool I get this message "HPCloudRecoveryTool.exe cannot be downloaded securely" !

Right so I managed to get the cloud recovery tool to work and reset the PC back to it's original Windows 10 Factory default settings. It has now updated to Windows 11 and I have sound !

Sledgehammer to crack an egg solution but at least it worked so thank you very much for your support.
