Microsoft Windows 11

My HP Envy 13 laptop has been experiencing audio issues for the last 4 weeks. These are:

1) Left side speaker crackling

2) Left side speaker emitting little to no sound

3) Right side speaker only emitting sound

4) Both speakers fading and blurring randomly when previously/subsequently loud and clear

I have run the HP Support Assistant - no issues found.

Component test from startup - no issues found.

Uninstalled in device manager and laptop restarted - not resolved.

Running Windows 11 22H2 - Windows Update says the most recent driver is already installed.

Attempted to **bleep** by phone - unable to connect.

There is no pattern to when this happens. What can I do to fix these issues? And why is it so difficult to speak to an actual person from HP Support? I didn't purchase an extended warranty pack for nothing.

Hi @calc23,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing audio issues with your HP ENVY Laptop 13-ba1000. Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try to resolve the issue.

  • Check the volume: Make sure that the volume is turned up and not muted. You can do this by clicking on the speaker icon in the taskbar and adjusting the volume.
  • Update the audio driver: Go to the HP website and download the latest audio driver for your laptop. Install the driver and restart your laptop.
  • Check for loose connections: Make sure that the speakers are properly connected to your laptop. If you're using external speakers, check the cables for any damage.
  • Disable audio enhancements: Sometimes, audio enhancements can cause issues with the speakers. Disable any enhancements by right-clicking on the speaker icon and selecting "Playback devices". Then right-click on the speakers and select "Properties". Go to the "Enhancements" tab and uncheck all the boxes.
  • Use the audio troubleshooter: Windows has an audio troubleshooter that can help you diagnose and fix audio issues. To use the troubleshooter, right-click on the speaker icon and select "Troubleshoot sound problems".
  • Perform a system restore: If the audio issue started after you made changes to your laptop, you can try performing a system restore. This will restore your laptop to a previous state before the changes were made.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
