Elitebook 1030 x360 G7
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi everyone,

I work in the IT department of a company. One of my colleagues brought in a HP Elitebook 1030 x360 G7 with a non-working built in microphone. The microphone is visible in the sound settings in Windows and the sound sensitivity bar is always showing 50% (unless the microphone is manually disabled within Windows).

The microphone does work when I launch the laptop to Ubuntu from an USB stick, so I can confirm the mic is working and that it is rather a software issue. Within Windows I have no warning messages or any signals that the microphone is not working.

I have already tried the following:

- Updating all the drivers

- Disabling & reinstalling the microphone driver

- Reimaging the laptop from the standard company image (this is the only G7 laptop we have that has this issue)

- Reimaging the laptop with the standard image provided by Microsoft for Windows 10

- Disabling & re-enabling the microphone from the BIOS

- Running the sound troubleshooter in Windows

- Running the built in HP diagnostics tooling
