HP Envy 13
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Only had laptop a few weeks, since day 1 I have had sound issues.

When I switch on Sound can be very quiet even at 100%. Looking at the device manager the graphic never shows the sound going beyond 50%. It is very quiet until I go through the audio check and fix. It isn't particularly loud to begin with..maybe due to the size of the laptop.  A while later sound may go quiet,

When I switch on the laptop next time...sound quality is low again.

Also having issues with the microphone too... isn't loud at all.

Very frustrated with this and thinking of looking to send this back , though it all seems like driver issues as occasionally i can get the sound through the speakers louder.

Is there a permanent fix for this as I am very disappointed and couldn't recommend this laptop as a result.

It does not help, xxx can be from 000aa to 999zz. For example

HP ENVY Laptop - 13-ba0079tu     or    1B8X0PA#aa     where aa=country code.

Anyway, Please perform a clean install Audio software/driver, this should help.

   (a) Download the following driver and save on your computer,
                 https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp112001-112500/sp112101.exe

   (b) Go to Device Manager, Sound to uninstall sound driver (Realtek) and reboot,
   (c) Right click downloaded file and select Run as administrator,
   (d) Reboot again.

Regards.
