Hi All, i have a HP Envy 15 j112tx running Windows 10 Pro. it came with Beats audio which seems to be operating as expected. (i DO have Sound)
My problem is, in Device Manager, Under Sound, Video and Game Controllers i have an "Exclamation MarK" against High Definition Audio Device stating "This Device cannot Start (Code 10) and all investigations state to update the driver.
Problem is i CANT find one that works.
i have tried a couple from here but keep getting "Windows Encoutered a problem installing this driver software for your device"
i am having issues with the Foxtel Go app and Foxtel keep blamimg this error as the cause and wont assist any further until this is resolved.
any help greatly appreciated.

The only driver you should need to install is the IDT High Definition (HD) Audio driver. Beats is part of the software package.

Have you used the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI utility to test your notebook?
Run the system tests and the applicable component test.
Had you made any software changes or updates prior to this error appearing?
You can use System Restore to rollback to a checkpoint created before the event that happened before the error message began appearing.

No Fresh Install... (Changed Hard Drive)

I notice that in the partially covered device manage image there is a double instance of the IDT HD Audio. That should not be the case.
Uninstall the one that has no driver installed.
That should resolve the problem.
What does "No Fresh Install... (Changed Hard Drive)" mean?
Changing a hard drive without installing an OS, running a recovery or migrating the OS to it would tend to make a PC stop working.

Hi Provost, the "Double up" is how the SP63555 installs.
if i uninstall one instance and reboot i get the exclamation mark against one???
<<<What does "No Fresh Install... (Changed Hard Drive)" mean? >>>
that should have read
No...
It is a Fresh install because i had to changed the hard drive.

A clean install from a Microsoft Windows created installer or a factory recovery from a Recovery media creator produced usb flash drive?
They are not the same and that is whay I ask.
Try completely uninstalling the HD Audio device, both if there are two instances, and then running the softpaq.

a clean install not a recovery.
i have uninstalled both entries
Then reinstalled SP6355 as "Administrator", which is the driver package your link points to
at the end of this process the promt to restart appears so i rebooted and they are both back???
No errors are shown during this

Well, at least you don't have two IDT HD Audio device instances this time.
Haave you gone to the HP dowload portal for your notebook and installed the drivers besides the basic ones that Windows 10 installs on its own?
The driver download portal for your notebook
http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-ENVY-15-Notebook-PC-series/5401187/model/6622285
Drivers to install
Intel management engine interface, Intel rapid start technology, Wireless button driver, Synaptics TouchPad driver, Realtek card reader driver, HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI,
Once you have installed all of the drivers you can go ahead and uninstall the Audio driver and codec again and then install an earlier version of the Audio HD softpaq.

Take a look at the HD Audio device in the device manager to see if there are any hardware messages.
I suggest reinstalling the chipset driver software and then trying it again.
