Product: HP Envy 15
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The microphone mute button (F8) on my HP Envy 15 has suddenly stopped working. The light will not operate, and neither does the mute function work. In other words, pressing the button seems to be doing absolutely nothing.

 

I'm running the latest version of Windows 10 (64-bit), dual-booted with Ubuntu 21.10.
The mute microphone button never worked while in Ubuntu, but that's not a problem since I only really use switch to Ubuntu when I want to code.

It was always working fine in Windows, but it recently stopped for no apparent reason. I didn't download any Ubuntu updates recently so I don't think the dual boot is the cause of the problem.

I have also noticed that the volume mute button (F5) stops lighting up. It still functions as expected (i.e. mutes/unmutes sound) but will not light up to indicate the current mute status. I am not sure if this is a related problem.

I checked my audio drivers (there are 3 of them; one just says "High Definition Audio", one is from Intel, and one is from NVIDIA). They're all up-to-date.

How do I fix this problem?
