HP ENVY x360 Laptop - 13-ay0096au
Microsoft Windows 11

I have the same issue that many other people have been complaining about.

The speakers on my laptop are faulty, and have been replaced already, but the problem appears again.

Volume fluctuating and being too low, crackling noises.

I believe this is due to a hardware fault from HP that they are refusing to acknowledge and won't issue a recall.

All software fixes have been applied. The problem went away after the speakers were replaced with new speakers, but the problem came back a few months later.

Hi @numloxx,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds frustrating to deal with recurrent speaker issues on your HP Envy x360 13 laptop. Here are some steps and considerations that might help.

  • Check Drivers and Software Updates: Ensure that all drivers related to audio are up to date. Sometimes, driver updates can address issues with sound quality and stability.
  • Audio Settings Check: Verify that the audio settings on your laptop are configured correctly. Sometimes incorrect settings can lead to issues like volume fluctuations or crackling noises.
  • Physical Inspection: Check if there are any physical obstructions or damages around the speakers that might affect their performance. Dust or debris can sometimes cause issues with sound quality.
  • Consider External Speakers or Headphones: As a temporary solution, using external speakers or headphones can bypass the internal speaker issue until a more permanent fix is found.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I have tried all of the above you recommended with no success. I have tried this the first time and also after the speakers were replaced after they failed a second time.
