HP ENVY x360 15.6 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 15-ee1000 (2E2L0AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

My microphone is suddenly not recognized by the hardware at all. I can see the camera, the Bang & Olufsen Audio Control App and a number of the mixer options.

In the input device section - no input device is available and the microphone SHOULD BE available. I checked the Windows Volume Mixer and the Windows Sound Properties screens - again - NO INPUT device is available for microphone.

It is as if the Microphone is simply dead and not  recognized by any of the software as an option anymore. I checked Device Manager and under that - under Audio Inputs and Outputs - only the speaker is recognized, no Mics. The HP Wide Vision Camera is what is shown under camera - no mics there either.....

Is the Mic simply dead or is there some trick to this? Very saddened - with the work from home trend, this is a pain - would require me to buy a new mic/headset or new computer. Very disappointed.

Hi @jlrendall172722,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

Did you run the microphone test from F2 Diagnostic?

- Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the Notebook.
- Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second.
- When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
- On the main menu, click Component Tests and Audio > Microphone

If all the Test pass, I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also ensure Windows is up to date.

Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
