Hi Edgar, I had the exact same issue you found and was starting to feel hopeless, but I found a solution! 🤓😀

I was looking for another driver in AMD website and found a sort of support program that you can download to fix software issues; it's called: Auto-Detect and Install Radeon™ Graphics Drivers for Windows®, you can find it here:  https://www.amd.com/en/support

or download it directly here: https://drivers.amd.com/drivers/installer/20.20/beta/radeon-software-adrenalin-2020-20.8.1-minimalse...

Once installed, it will show an option to do a "Factory reset" which will delete and reinstall all related AMD drivers (it will not remove any program or app installed in your PC, or affect any of the already existing information as far as I can see).

I did just that and it worked like a charm! 😄

My built-in mic is working for the first time.

Hope this helps you too!

Hi go to https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers to find the out the correct driver for ur notebook . if u do not know about ur notebook go to hp support assistant and find out the serial number and product number or click on "Let HP auto detect your product". download the latest driver and install it (it is easy to install because it will be .exe)  there will be prompt to restart ur computer and click on restart now . after that it will boot to windows recovery saying that there is some problem in the pc . click on reboot now . Hope that this helps

Hello,

I am having a similar problem, but not the same.

On my case my mic and speaker work just fine but eventually it will stop working in the middle of a meeting and the computer will give me errors as: "No Microphone Found" and "No Speaker Found".

If I restart the computer it will be working fine but I would like to fix this and be able to finish my meetings without restarting the laptop. Does anyone have a solution for this?

You can check an image of the error on the following link:

Cnrv, I had the EXACT same issue.  My wife is a teacher and they have to use Google Meet.  It happened to her last Monday when she started back to school with meetings.  All week has been a nightmare.  My belief is that the hard drive might have been corrupted or maybe there was a fault with the original install from the factory.  Either way, I worked with a support tech last night and we re-installed windows.  I would recommend going through this process as it seems everything is working perfectly now.  I will post any updates but so far so good. The reason I am in this forum is that one important problem after re-installing windows was that there was no microphone detected and HP doesn't have the driver on their site.  This thread had the drivers and saved me from sending the laptop in (15M-EE0013DX).  Thank you community!

UPDATE:  so 5 hours into running the google meet with youtube playing in the background, the audio (mic and speakers) failed again.  This was with the internal mic and speakers.  I am trying my external mic overnight and through tomorrow but HP support has a box on its way to me.

i am still having the same issues after updating the drivers as well. No reason to send the laptop back tho as this is clearly a software issue and not a hardware one.

@Chewy718

I have a few steps to help you out:

The Troubleshooting tool automatically finds and fixes many computer issues. Use it to troubleshoot microphone problems.

  1. In Windows, search for and open Control Panel.

  2. Click Troubleshooting.

  3. Under Hardware and Sound, click Troubleshoot audio recording.

    NOTE:

Administrator permission is required to run this program. If prompted, type the administrator password or provide confirmation.

  4. The Sound troubleshooter opens. Click Next. The troubleshooter begins checking the audio service status.

  5. Select the device you want to troubleshoot, and then click Next.

  6. Follow the on-screen instructions and make any changes suggested by the troubleshooter. When done, close the troubleshooter.

  7. If the problem persists, continue to the next step.

We may need to reset the privacy settings for the Microphone if the issue occurred after any recent windows updates:

  1. Open Settings from your start menu.
  2. Click on Privacy in order to access all your privacy settings.
  3. Select Microphone from the left pane and then click the Change button.
  4. Now, turn on the microphone for this device.
  5. Turn on Allow apps to access your microphone.
  6. Finally, in the app list, make sure to turn on microphone access for every app you want to give permission to access your microphone.
  7. Repeat the same exact steps but for your webcam this time.

If the issue persists, uninstall the microphone driver and restart to automatically install a fresh driver for the same.

  1. Open device manager, the fastest way is through the search bar:
  2. Open ‘Audio Inputs and Outputs’
  3. Left-click on your recording device.
  4. In the menu that opens up Click ‘Uninstall’.
  5. delete the driver. click apply/OK and then, restart the pc.

Thanks for your help. I tried this on a couple of machines and it works temporarily but ultimately the issue comes back. This is now confirmed across 15 HP envy's that I am managing and it started happening after the latest HP Bios update for the envy x360 ryzen Renoir edition.

Please test this on your own end and with the 15M-EE0013DX model. This is not something that is only happening to 1 user but its confirmed a problem across many many users in the HP support forums.

This is a fantastic laptop and when not video conferencing the laptop works 100%. Please test this and release an update to fix as your troubleshooting steps have not returned positive results.
