Hi @OTalex,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're having trouble getting audio to play through the speakers on your HP Envy x360 laptop, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try.
Check Volume and Mute Settings
- Ensure the laptop's volume is turned up and not muted. Check both the system volume and the volume in any application you're using.
- Press the F6 or F8 key (depending on your model) to increase the volume.
Verify Audio Output Device
- Right-click the sound icon in the system tray (bottom-right corner) and select "Open Sound settings."
- In the Sound settings window, ensure the correct output device (speakers) is selected under "Choose your output device."
- If headphones or an external device is connected, try disconnecting them.
Update Audio Drivers
- Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
- Expand the Sound, video, and game controllers section.
- Right-click your audio device (e.g., Realtek High Definition Audio) and choose Update driver.
- Select "Search automatically for updated driver software."
- If an update is available, install it and restart your laptop.
Run the Audio Troubleshooter
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
- Select Additional troubleshooters or Other troubleshooters.
- Click on Playing Audio and then Run the troubleshooter.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
Restart Audio Services
- Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
- Scroll down to find Windows Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder.
- Right-click each service and select Restart.
Check for Windows Updates
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Click Check for updates and install any available updates.
Test with External Speakers or Headphones
- Plug in a pair of headphones or external speakers to see if the issue persists.
- If you hear audio through external devices but not through the laptop speakers, it could indicate a hardware issue.

Reset BIOS
- Restart your laptop and press F10 repeatedly to enter the BIOS.
- Find the Reset BIOS to default option (usually under the Exit or Advanced tab).
- Save changes and exit the BIOS.
Perform a System Restore
- If the issue started recently, try performing a system restore to a point when the audio was working.
- Go to Control Panel > Recovery > Open System Restore and choose an appropriate restore point.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
