HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-fc0000 (733M5AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi,

since some weeks I have proble, with the audio volume control.

HP Laptop 15-fc0777ng

System: Windows 11 Home 23H2 22631.3007

I start Chrome and play video with audio. In windows you can press the keyboard (F6 or F7) or in the windows task bar

oicfar_0-1704973416369.png

to change the volume.

1. The audio volume control is working fine with headphones connected to the audio jack.

2. The audio volume control isn´t working with the build-in speaker. If I change the volume there is no reaction. I have to do it here

And if I set it to 0 it´s off.

In this

it´s not working too.

This is not usabe and make no phun.

My system is up2date. All updates and plugins are installed. HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows 2.4.0.0 say: All it´s ok.

I downloaded and reinstalled the audio drivers and after reboot all was reinstalled. I updated the bios.

Problem still exists. It worked weeks ago.

Hi @oicfar,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you've already taken some troubleshooting steps, but the issue persists. Here are additional steps you can try to resolve the problem with the audio volume control on your HP Laptop running Windows 11:

Check Audio Settings:

  • Right-click on the speaker icon in the system tray and select "Open Sound settings."
  • Ensure that the correct output device (speakers) is selected.
  • Click on "Device properties" and make sure the volume is not set to zero.

Device Manager:

  • Press Win + X and select "Device Manager."
  • Locate the "Sound, video and game controllers" section.
  • Right-click on your audio device and select "Update driver." Follow the on-screen instructions.
  • If there are any exclamation marks or warnings, it may indicate a driver issue. Try uninstalling the audio driver, restart your laptop, and let Windows reinstall the driver.

Roll Back Audio Driver:

  • If you recently updated the audio driver and the issue started afterward, try rolling back the driver.
  • In Device Manager, right-click on your audio device, choose "Properties," go to the "Driver" tab, and click "Roll Back Driver" if the option is available.

Windows Troubleshooter:

  • Open the Settings app (Win + I), go to "System," and then "Troubleshoot."
  • Run the "Playing Audio" troubleshooter.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Ensure that your Windows 11 is fully up-to-date. Sometimes, Microsoft releases updates that include fixes for various issues.

System Restore:

  • If the issue started recently, you might consider using System Restore to revert your system to a state where the audio was working correctly.

HP Support:

  • Visit the official HP support website for your laptop model. Check if there are any specific audio-related updates or patches.

BIOS/UEFI Settings:

  • Check if there are any relevant audio settings in the BIOS/UEFI. Ensure that everything is configured correctly.

Third-Party Applications:

  • If you have any third-party audio management applications installed, try disabling or uninstalling them temporarily to see if they are causing conflicts.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-

Hi @Gaya1239,

what I already did:

Check Audio Settings:

  • Looks good.

Device Manager:

  • I removed and reinstalled the driver.

Roll Back Audio Driver:

  • I have to check this.

Windows Troubleshooter:

  • I did it, but all was good.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Always up2date.

System Restore:

  • Hm ... I can't to this. Perhaps I try to reinstall whole Windows in the next weeks. Not because of this problem.

HP Support:

  • I did it bu I will take a look again. I downloaded the latest audio driver. But nothing changed.

BIOS/UEFI Settings:

  • Updated this week. But the porblem still exists.

Third-Party Applications:

  • There was no changes.
