Did not understand how B&O speakers could sound so bad.
Finally decided it was all the different audio software trying to control them.
Uninstalled 'Realtek' drivers.
Updated 'Realtek drivers.
Chose the bass 'listening experience' and turned bass up full.
Result was similar to the sound from the old desktop dual speakers but a great deal more expanded.
Still had no real bass or percussion.
Bought a logitech N700 lapdesk and plugged it in - fantastic stereo now.
Strange how I had forgotten over time that normal desktop speakers were always tinny.
So it is no surprise that normal laptop speakers are the same - small and tinny.
Must be that I just got used to using bass woofers and good headphones and increased my expectations.
The notebook being chanelled through the Logitech lapdesk sounds really great.
The stereo separation is even better than my desktop woofer can manage although not as loud.
Everything from Philarmonic to Country to Choirs to heavy metal sounds really good and clear.
The 'Realtek' audio drivers have really impressed me.
Just thought I would share the problem with the solution for other members.
Final tip: Stopped using media player to play music and now using 'GROOVE'

Welcome to the HP Forums. I would be happy to help you with your HP 15 notebok. I understand that your getting Bang and Olufsen internal speakers issues and you have already done some preliminary troubleshooting.
However, I will need a few details to provide an accurate solution,
- When did this issue start?
- Did you do any hardware or software changes?
Meanwhile:
Remove the audio drivers & Reinstall the original drivers
Update the Audio drivers from the Official HP website for windows 10 (click on change on the top to switch between OS).
Increase volume on playback device settings after setting your speaker as the default device.
-
Perform a hard reset
-
Reset BIOS to defaults
-
Run the Audio test from the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI)
-
Update the BIOS
-
Reset your computer
-
Perform an HP System Recovery
Click here and refer the document to perform the above steps.
Let me know if that works.
Cheers.

I totally agree with this rating about the quality of these speakers. I just received my customized evny17 and I am falling in love with it. The problem is, i love to listen to music when I study so it was my first time checking out the sound. I was blown away how horrible the qualiy sounds. There's absolutely no bass and the clarity just sunds horrible and almost muffled. I have an old Envy but its sound system is beats audio and that computer is about seven years old. It STILL sounds better than this one and I just received it yesterday. Very very disappointed

Beats has a particular audio signature that is very bass heavy with equalisation that is a long way from being flat. Speakers on a Beats model will likely be tuned to fit this audio signature.
I can't really characterise Bang & Olufsen audio on a HP notebook. You are never going to get the performance of some of B&O's legendary audio products within the physical constraints of a notebook, but it should perform fairly well. It will not, however, sound like Beats. If you have got used to Beats, everything else wil sound different to the point of being wrong.
