Hi, sorry for my bad english, but I will try to explain me:

  • Did this happen after a recent window or software update? No, it's just start randonmly
  • Have you tried any troubleshooting steps? Yes, I tried all steps I found on this forum for similar issues. I already tried reinstalling realtek driver and a lot of other possible solutions.
  • Did you make any changes on the settings of your PC prior to the issue? No
  • When was the last time it worked fine? Maybe a year ago... And I bought this notebooks like 3 years ago.
  • Have you checked the audio via headphone or external speakers? Yes, and it works fine.

Some other facts:

- When turn on notebook and immediately put some music, audio is clear and very loud. After some seconds or minutes randonmly starts to decrease gradually. After some seconds, its like 60% or 70% quiter, but volume bar on windows still shows 100%. (This behavior make me think is just a software or driver issue)

- When I tried changing driver from Realtek to windows audio driver, volume does not decrease, but overall sound is not as good as realtek driver, and also is quiter than realtek sound (like 30% quiter), so is not the best solution anyway. (This behavior make me think is just a software or driver issue)

- This is really freak: When I turn down the notebook, I mean with keyboard face down, randommly speakers start to sound louder and some times the issue is gone, just to randommly starts again after some minutes, hours or days. (This behavior looks like a hardware issue, but can't be hardware if you see the other facts)

@KennyOsorio

Thank you for posting back.

I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

Firstly, perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant: (do not skip any troubleshooting steps if you feel steps are repeating)

To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update, and select Check for updates.

Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.

  1. To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon https://support.hp.com/doc-images/932/c05040382.jpg.
  2. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
  3. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
  4. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
  5. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
  6. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi Kenny. The only solution i could find was to roll back the audio driver to Windows basic one. That solved the problem to a certain point, as speakers aren't quite loud as it could and i'm unable to use HP Omen audio software or Realtek one to EQ the sound and solve the poor bass and low volume it has.

It's all a software issue as you can see, and it'll keep that way until they decide to drop a new driver that actually works

Hi again! I found that maybe this issue is caused by keyboard hot keys. If you press Fn+F5 (volume off) and then press again (volume on), randomly the issue is gone, and if after that you only manipulate volume with the menu icon (and not with F6 or F7 keys), issue is not going back.
