Microsoft Windows 11

I have a brand new HP Omen Transcend 16-u0044nw (8F715EA) and all drivers are up to date. However, the left speaker is much quieter than the right one (when the video starts it seems that both speakers work fine but 5-10 seconds later the left speaker's sound significantly drops down). All the sound settings are correct. Realtek Audio Console doesn't work (the pop-up window opens and shuts down immediately). I have already reinstalled Realtek drivers several times, no luck. Anything else I can try?

Hi @Nellisa,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

I understand that you are having issues with the sound.

The issue you're experiencing with your HP Omen Transcend 16, where the left speaker is quieter than the right, could be due to a variety of reasons, including software conflicts, driver issues, or even a hardware fault. Here are several steps you can follow to diagnose and potentially resolve the problem:

1. Check Balance Settings

  1. Sound Settings:
    • Right-click on the sound icon in the taskbar and select Sounds.
    • Go to the Playback tab and double-click on your speakers (usually labeled as Speakers/Headphones or similar).
    • Go to the Levels tab and click Balance.
    • Ensure both left and right channels are set to the same level.

2. Run Audio Troubleshooter

  1. Windows Troubleshooter:
    • Press Windows + I to open Settings.
    • Go to Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
    • Click on Additional troubleshooters.
    • Select Playing Audio and run the troubleshooter.

3. Disable Audio Enhancements

  1. Disable Enhancements:
    • Right-click on the sound icon in the taskbar and select Sounds.
    • Go to the Playback tab and double-click on your speakers.
    • Go to the Enhancements tab and check Disable all enhancements.
    • Click Apply and OK.

4. Reinstall Audio Drivers

Uninstall and Reinstall Drivers:

  • Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  • Expand Sound, video, and game controllers.
  • Right-click on the Realtek audio device and select Uninstall device. Make sure to check the box that says Delete the driver software for this device.
  • Restart your laptop. Windows should automatically reinstall the default audio drivers.

Install Drivers from HP:

  • Go to the HP Support website and enter your laptop model.
  • Download and install the latest audio drivers provided by HP.

Kindly check the remaining steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @Nellisa,

Please find the next steps below.

5. Check for Third-Party Software Conflicts

  1. Clean Boot:
    • Press Windows + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
    • Go to the Services tab and check Hide all Microsoft services.
    • Click Disable all.
    • Go to the Startup tab and click Open Task Manager.
    • Disable all startup items.
    • Restart your laptop and check if the issue persists.

6. Check Realtek Audio Console

  1. Repair or Reinstall Realtek Audio Console:
    • Press Windows + I to open Settings.
    • Go to Apps > Apps & features.
    • Find Realtek Audio Console in the list.
    • Click on it and select Advanced options.
    • Click Repair. If this doesn’t work, try Reset.
    • If the problem persists, uninstall Realtek Audio Console, restart your laptop, and reinstall it from the Microsoft Store.

7. Update BIOS/UEFI

  1. Update BIOS:
    • Visit the HP Support website.
    • Enter your laptop model and check for BIOS updates.
    • Download and install any available updates following the instructions provided by HP.

8. Check for Hardware Issues

Run HP Diagnostics:

  • Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly until the Startup Menu opens.
  • Press F2 to open System Diagnostics.
  • Run the Audio Test to check for hardware issues with the speakers.

External Speaker Test:

  • Connect external speakers or headphones to your laptop.
  • Check if the audio imbalance persists. If the external speakers or headphones work fine, the issue may be with the internal speakers.

By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and potentially resolve the issue with the left speaker on your HP Omen Transcend 16.

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it might be a hardware problem with the left speaker. Contact HP Support for further assistance or consider taking your laptop to an authorized service center for a thorough diagnosis and repair.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

HI Elohi, I have already tried all these with your support specialist through the WhatsApp, nothing helped.

I don't have the Realtek Audio Console installed on my laptop; when I instal it, this app can't be opened (the window opens just for a second and closes automatically).

I don't have the Enhancements tab in the Sounds.

Any other tips? Is there any specific Realtek driver I can try to install?
