Hi, I really appreciate all the help. I downloaded that and restarted laptop as advised but there's still no change unfortunately. It doesn't look like anything has changed in the device manager - I assume it was supposed to? I did find below however when checking the device manager. Am I best running the Chkdsk utility and if so how do I do that?

Repair Windows

 

(1) Open cmd.exe as administrator and execute:

sfc  /scannow

 

(2) Reboot 

 

(3) Open cmd.exe as administrator and execute:

 

msdt.exe /id WindowsUpdateDiagnostic

 

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

 

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

 

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

 

(4) Reboot

Hi, I've tried that a few times now but each time it just keeps getting to 7% and then says 'Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation' - any more ideas? Sorry to keep hassling but you're my only hope here.
