I recently noticed this issue when I removed my blue tooth speaker. The audio in left speaker of the laptop is much  louder than the right side. When I do a sound test in windows, there is audio in the right, but at almost half the level. I've tried:

- Uninstalling (and deleting) > rebooting > reinstalling realtek drivers

- Using intel's update and driver support assistant (up to date on everything)

- Going into sound properties and playing around with the balance. But this severely limits overall sound volume.

- I can't access HP's drivers page because my laptops product name, serial number, and other information does NOT come up on their database (**bleep**?).

I tried connecting my bluetooth headphones to the laptop and audio fine, equal on both sides.

@DrScottC

Please do a clean install Audio software/driver, this should help.

(a) Download the following driver and save on your computer,

   https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp93001-93500/sp93151.exe

(b) Go to Device Manager, Sound to uninstall sound driver (Realtek) and reboot,
(c) Right click downloaded file and select Run as administrator,
(d) Reboot again.

Regards.

Thank you for the reply.

I did as you said, and the update did not work. Prior to your post I even did a Recovery/Reset thinking that may help and it did not. I just ended up with a "Detection Varification" and "unknown Device" in the device manager.

Now I'm wishing I never found this issue.
