Hi @Programme_noob,

I read the super quick reply comprehensively.  Thanks for responding. You've done an amazing job here by displaying profound technical expertise, immaculate attitude and a terrific temperament to try and resolve the issue. You've paid attention to detail and Kudos to you for a job well done. 🙂 Sherlock Holmes could not have done any better considering the meticulous approach. 🙂

You've hit the nail on its head. It looks like the Bang and Olufsen app does not work with head phones and is predominantly designed for  speakers. As you've tried multiple headphones to isolate the issue. The feature for the head phone is not supported which was confirmed by one of the Forum's reputed experts. Try with  Bang and Olufsen headphones and if possible. if it gets detected then the equalizer should work.

It has been fabulous working with you and an absolute honor to share this platform with you.Thank you for that. 🙂 Trust me I've done all I can to assist you by keeping your best interest in mind. At least we figured out that the app does not support all headsets. A lot of time effort and research went into this to provide you with an answer.

If this helps, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others and please give the same post a Kudos for my efforts to help. Please remember if you as a customer do it, it will motivate us to assist a lot of other customers and churn out more solutions for their benefit.

Thanks and have a beautiful year ahead. 🙂

Hi @Programme_noob,

Good Day. A warm welcome to the HP community. I reviewed the case relating to the headset audio not working when plugged into the audio port. I will be delighted to assist you here.

Superb description, brilliant troubleshooting and terrific observations made before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂

To assist you with accurate information I would require more information regarding this.

  • Has it worked before?
  • Did it happen after a software or Windows update?
  • Did you try multiple head phones and check if it works?
  • Do you hear audio on the headset and is it that only the equalizer does not work?

For now please try these steps:

You need to use the windows default sound settings to make the changes when using a headphone.

If you buy Bang and Olufsen headphones the equalizer may or not work. However, if the software detects the headphones all the settings should work. The software is which is installed on your computer is designed to change the audio settings for the laptop speakers.

Please check this link: http://hp.care/2gglw5h authored by a forum expert who provides the same information to another customer.

If there is no audio at all from the headset and the speakers work then please try these steps:

  • Right-Click on start button> click device manager> expand sound video and game controllers>then select the sound drivers and right-click on it and uninstall the audio drivers. Then check the box delete the software for this device.
  • Then restart the computer and update the bios, chipset and audio drivers from this link: http://hp.care/2gfPjuZ please select the country and type the product# of the computer and then follow the on-screen instructions.

This should do the trick for you. If there is still no audio from the headphones, please try with a different pair of headphones. If the problem continues, try these steps:

Solution 1:

  • Right-click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select 'Playback Devices'.
  • Left click the default device once to highlight it ( it's usually 'speakers & headphones' ) then click the Properties button.
  • Click the Enhancements tab and put a tick in the box next to 'Loudness Equalization'.
  • Click Apply to save the change and then click OK in all remaining windows and see if this has helped at all.

Solution 2:

  • Right-click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select 'Playback Devices'.
  • Select the Communications tab up the top.
  • By default ‘when windows detects communications activity’ is set to ‘Reduce the volume of other sounds by 80%’.
  • Change this to ‘Do nothing’.
  • Press OK.

If the problem persists please try these steps:

Right click on the “Volume icon” on the bottom right corner.

b) Select “Recording devices”.

c) Under the “Recording” tab right click on the white empty space and check the box that says, “Show disabled devices” and “Show disconnected devices”.

d) Right click on “Stereo Mix” and “Enable” this device.

e) Highlight “Stereo Mix”, click on “Properties” and go to the “Listen” tab.

f) Check the box "Listen to this device", also change the drop-down box below "Playback through this device" to be your second audio device.

g) To verify that you've done this correctly, go back to the sound dialog tab “Playback”, you should now see both of your audio devices showing the little green graphs moving.

Finally please check this link: http://hp.care/2geNq1Q  for using and configuring the Bang and Olufsen app

Let me keep you posted about a few things.

Hi, thanks for reply.

I have not problem playing audio with headphone plugged in, just the B&O Output panel not working when headphone is plugged in.

http://hp.care/2gglw5h

I checked the link above, and yes I seem to have the same problem. There is audio when I plug in headphone, but the bang olufsen output panel is greyed out. However, when I turned on the multistreaming option in the B&O panel, and restarted the laptop while the headphone is plugged in, the equaliser option works, but the B&O experience option in the Output is still greyed out.

I tried it with headphone immediately after I bought the laptop, and it didn't work, so I assume that windows update didn't affect this.

I also tried with other headphone, didn't work aswell.

Thanks.
