HP Spectre X360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I'm having issues with speaker audio on brand new HP Spectre x360 where speaker makes crackling sound. During the diagnosis, it is found that the left speaker which makes crackling sound. Due to this, the audio is not at all clear. The issue does not occur when headphones are used.

Product name : HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13-ae0xx

Product number : 1WU65AV

I am really started guessing that this is a hardware issue and quite common when I searched across various forums; as I'm not able to find a solution which is software based.

Thanks and Regards,

Manish

The problem is solved. I did the following when it was resolved:
1) update sound driver option in device manager settings did not work. So I searched for available drivers on hp for my product model and found a latest Jan-2018 realtek audio driver and installed it, restarted the laptop. But wait, it still did not solve the problem.
2) on the same drivers page, the latest BIOS update was also available. Post installing it, the speaker crackling issue resolved after restart.

Not able to provide the link here as I'm updating the post from mobile. Just searched for hp spectre x360 drivers in Google.

Thanks

Thank you for responding,

It's great to have you back 😉

That's quite strange as the audio driver functions control both the speaker and the headphone jack,

And if the headphones had been working however, the speakers weren't - reinstalling the drivers usually don't help.

However, I'm glad it worked out in your case, there could have been a glitch that seems to have been resolved now after the re-installation and update of Bios.

Thanks for taking the time to let the community know about the solution,

You've been great to work with and it has been a genuine pleasure interacting with you.

I hope both you and your product works great and remain healthy for a long time 😉

To simply say thanks for my efforts to assist you, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos.

Take care now and do have a fabulous week ahead. 🙂

Had the same issue with the loud cracking and beeping speaker on the right side on my 1.5 year old Spectre.  Had to install the latest BIOS and that did the trick.  Thanks for the tip!
