Hello,
I just "successfully" replaced the battery on my HP Spectre X360 15 touch screen. The new battery is connected and working fine however my internal speakers have not been detected since the replacement. Specifically this is what happened:
1 - opened laptop, disconnected and removed original battery.
2 - I did unintentionally disconnect the white speaker wire while removing the battery.
3 - connected and installed new battery wrapping the speaker wires around the battery as they originally were.
4 - battery works but the speakers are no longer detectable.
5 - opened the laptop again an ensured that both speaker wires were connected properly and wires routed around battery as before.
6 - Still no internal speakers detected.
- there is audio when I send it to a bluetooth speaker
- the microphone is detected but I have not tested it.
- the BIOS is up to date
- the hardware fix software does not detect any audio issues
- I have rebooted several times
- Device Manager shows no output devices
- the RealTek service is running upon startup
- the Bang & Olufsen app gets and error "
- the Bang & Olufsen app has an error message "Can not connect to RPC service.
Any help or direction on how to get the speakers working again would be greatly appreciated.

@KW247, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Speaker Issues After Battery Replacement on HP Spectre x360!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
It sounds like the internal speakers of your HP Spectre x360 laptop are no longer detected after you replaced the battery. Here are steps you can follow to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:
Check Physical Connections:
- Ensure that all cables and connectors, including the white speaker wire, are securely connected. Any loose connections can cause devices to malfunction.
Restart the Laptop:
- Sometimes, a simple restart can refresh the hardware detection and solve connection issues.
Check Device Manager:
- Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
- Expand the Sound, video, and game controllers section.
- Check if the internal speakers are listed. If not, ensure that there are no yellow exclamation marks or red crosses indicating a problem.
Reinstall Audio Drivers:
- Visit the HP Support website and download the latest audio drivers for your HP Spectre x360.
- Uninstall the existing audio drivers from Device Manager, then reinstall the new drivers.
Run HP Hardware Diagnostics:
- HP provides built-in hardware diagnostics. Restart your computer and press F2 during startup to access the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI. Run the audio tests to check for hardware issues.
BIOS Settings:
- Ensure that the BIOS settings are correctly set. Restart your computer and press F10 during startup to enter BIOS. Check if the audio settings are enabled.
Windows Audio Services:
- Open Services by typing services.msc in the Run dialog (press Win + R).
- Find Windows Audio, right-click, and start the service if it’s not running.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
