I hope someone here can help. I have lost my sound output and microphone input. I have tried HP support but they are unable to help. They want me to reset my laptop and reload windows, which I am reluctant to do.
Audio on this laptop has always been a struggle. It tends to default to the Windows sound devices Output Speaker / Headphone (USB PnP Audio device or Speaker (Digital Video recorder). Neither of there work on my laptop. For microphone it defailts to Microphone (USB PnP Audio device)
I have always had to select the correct output and microphone channels.
Does anyone have this laptop. If so, please could you tell me the correct channels. My recollection is Output should be a Realtek channel (I might be wrong about this), and Input should be Intel Microphone Array.
Both these have disappeared.
I do have a Realtek driver under Device Manager / Sounds
I can get sound by plugging a headphone into the 3.5mm socket
One other strange thing is that there is a B&O app which I assume should give me some control over audio. But when I run it I get error "Unable to connect to RPC. I don't know if this is anything to do with the problem. I should appreciate someone with the laptop, or knowledge to fix the problem, helping me

Hi Nirvana
I have read your DM. Thank you for your suggestions. I have already spoken to the UK HP Support team several times without the issue being resolved. So I am being asked to backup my Spectre X360 so the laptop can be factory reset and Windows 10 reinstalled. I see that as a major step since I then have to rebuild my apps etc. So, I am trying to avoid this. I thought to contact the forum in the hope I might find someone with a similar laptop who could just let me know exactly the correct sound input and output channels - I think input Intel array, output realtek. Neither of which is now showing in my machine. I also hoped someone with my config could tell me what is supposed to happen when I click on the B&O app. In my case it just says "unable to connect to RPC" and I am wondedring if that might be the problem.
Sound on this machine has always been a pain.

Hi Nirvana,
I meant to add that I now don't have sound through the 3.5mm jack. I am again a bit confused. I do know that I managed to get the sound working through my headphones when talking with Hp support. But the headphones are also bluetooth and it might be that that is how I managed to get sound. I do currently have sound through bluetooth.
Many thanks, Peter

Thanks for your response.
If you are seeing can not connect to RPC service error, it might be due to outdated drivers or missing files. You should try is to update the audio drivers via the Device Manager. To update Realtek High Definition Audio drivers, Open the Run Command box using Win+R on the keyboard.
You may also try reinstalling the driver from the device manager
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
