HP Spectre x360

I was using my HP spectre x360 laptop on and off for the past few days and usually, the audio sounds like it is surrounding the latop, but now it sounds like it is coming from right in the middle of the speaker and it is noticeably quieter and flatter than it used to be. It's so quiet that even on 100% volume I can barely hear anything. I already tried updating the drivers but they were all up to date, and then I tried uninstalling them and restarting the laptop- nothing fixed it. I tried switching between 48bit and 16bit sample rates as well and that didn't work either. The lack of quality audio makes the laptop pretty much unusable for anything that needs sound. Please help me fix this issue, I would greatly appreciate it. I have never had this problem in the 3+ years I have owned this device.

My started the same thing yesterday! The sound is a higher pitch.  Has there been some update?

I had the same issue. Only thing that worked for me was disabling the line above at Windows Initialization programs.
Hope it works for you too, it took me days of search and trying...
