Hi. After a Windows 11 25H2 update both internal and Bluetooth connected microphones don't work. They can be seen on both a System test and on apps (zoom, teams etc) but when testing on System no sound is detected and the apps say the mic doesn't work.

I have checked privacy settings and all drivers are up to date. I tried uninstalling the Microphone Array driver and restarted but no change.

Hi @C351,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Spectre x360 14 Convertible’s internal and Bluetooth microphones stopped working after the Windows 11 25H2 update, even though they appear in system settings and apps. Let’s go through a few steps to troubleshoot this.

Check Windows privacy settings
Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone.
Ensure that microphone access for the device and apps you want to use (Zoom, Teams) is turned on.

Check default recording device
Right-click the speaker icon → Sounds → Recording tab.
Make sure the internal Microphone Array or your Bluetooth mic is set as the default device.
Right-click → Properties → Levels → ensure volume is not muted.

Update audio drivers from HP
Even if drivers seem updated, Windows Update may install generic drivers that are incompatible.
Go to the HP Support site → Software & Drivers → Enter your model → Audio and reinstall the latest HP Audio driver (Realtek or Conexant depending on your model).

Check Bluetooth microphone settings
For Bluetooth mics, go to Settings → Devices → Bluetooth & devices, remove the device, then pair it again.
Ensure it’s selected as the default recording device in Windows.

Run the built-in audio troubleshooter
Go to Settings → System → Sound → Troubleshoot under Input devices.
Follow the prompts; sometimes Windows can fix configuration issues introduced by updates.

Check for Windows 11 known issues
Some 25H2 updates caused microphone or audio device issues.
Check HP Support Assistant for optional audio driver or firmware updates specific to 25H2.

Reset audio services
Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
Restart the following services: Windows Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder.
Then test your microphone again.

Perform a clean audio driver reinstall

Uninstall the audio driver in Device Manager (Audio Inputs & Outputs → Microphone Array → Uninstall).

Also remove the driver under Sound, video and game controllers.

Restart the laptop and install the latest HP-provided audio driver.

Check app-specific settings
Some apps (Zoom, Teams) need the mic manually selected after major updates.
Verify the correct microphone is chosen inside each app.

I hope this helps.
