After upgrading to Windows 11 on my HP Spectre X360 laptop the new Realtek Sound driver was not able to detect any Speakers/Headphones Output Device and it was only possible to bluetooth sound.
I tried to find a solution from HP without success (they don't support Windows 11 drivers for this laptop) but did find on this forum that many others have experienced the same issue. Unfortunately the associated threads were locked (due to inactivity) without a satisfactory answer being given.
Anyway, I eventually fixed my problem but couldn't post the solution so have opened this new thread as a tip for others experiencing this problem.
First step - download from HP drivers the following Realtek driver or make sure it is installed
"Realtek HighDefinition HD Audio Driver - sp76089"
Second step - Check version of Intel(R) Smart Sound Technology (IntelR SSt) Audio controller in Device Manager
Make sure it is 10.23.0.3672. If a later version (eg 10.23.0.4880) then REVERT to the older version
